DJ’s for Climate Action invites the electronic music community to be part of Earth Night 2022
The international NGO prepares to coordinate its flagship event, Earth Night, for the 5th consecutive year. Set for the 4th weekend in April, Earth Night is a global festival geared towards activating the nightlife and electronic music community around planetary environmental issues.
DJs4CA are calling on venues, promoters, DJs and dancers across the globe to be part of a global movement and join the 5th annual edition of Earth Night, which will take place over April 22-24th, 2022 in conjunction with Earth Day. Guided by the “FUTURE VISION”, a document the DJs4CA team co-created with volunteer representatives from the community at large, the group is inviting venues around the world to partake in this year’s event and achieve new standards for climate action within the industry.
“DJs for Climate Action uses the power of music to amplify our collective role in protecting our planet’s future. Our coalition of DJs and musicians worldwide use their craft and cultural influence to raise awareness and provoke a response to the global challenge of climate change. Our aim is to remix the climate message to engage and inspire action on (one of the most pressing issues we’re facing now,) climate change,” mentioned Sammy Bananas, one of DJs4CA founding members.
What started with year-end offset drives to take responsibility for air travel emissions has over the years grown into partnerships with advocacy groups, coordination of events and social mobilization. Since its inception in 2018, EARTH NIGHT has garnered support from artists like Little Boots, Dillon Francis, Soul Clap, Jamie Jones, A-Trak, and hundreds more. In its second year, Earth Night organized eight events worldwide attended by 3000 people and raised over $15,000 for beneficiaries working toward climate solutions. And in 2020, the organization broadcasted the world’s first-ever global B2B. In total, viewership for the event reached 25,000.
New York-based DJ and longtime DJs4CA participant Eli Soul Clap said:
“For the fifth edition of Earth Night we are going a step beyond just educating and supporting climate action. This year’s Earth Night events are all about embodying transformational change and proving that our collective FUTURE VISION can become a true reality for our scene.”
Proceeds from all EARTH NIGHT activities will fund local projects focused on effective climate action and or social justice movements through direct donations and partnerships. Likewise, DJs4CA will partner with the non-profit Bye Bye Plastic to support venues in their transition to a plastic free EARTH NIGHT event. Organizing parties can also support DJs4CA directly with their donations.
