Together with numerous leaders of the Dutch events sector – Amsterdam Open Air, DGTL, Extrema Outdoor, Into The Great Wide Open, Mysteryland, Solar Weekend, Welcome to the Future, Welcome to the Village, Vierdaagsefeesten, Zwarte Cross, NederlandSchoon and the Ministry of Infrastructure & Environment – Green Events has been working on the Green Deal for “Waste-free festivals”.

The Green Deal started in October 2015 and its main objectives are to reduce the quantity of waste per visitor, to separate waste, and to recycle more and better through collaboration on festivals. This should also result in cleaner festivals, as the amount of waste on the ground is reduced. In October 2018 we published the comprehensive toolkit ‘waste-free festivals’, available to all in the industry.

We are currently working on a Green Deal Circular Festivals. In this Green Deal 16 major European festivals will collaborate on the goal to become circular in 2025. Green Events International is responsible for the overall project management, bringing the festival organizers together in working groups, facilitating the sharing of knowledge, document the gained knowledge and experiences into toolkits and share this knowledge in relevant international circles.
